Iconic Clouds Full Day Intensive in Oils Oct 11th

$195.00

Sunday Oct 9th 10am-5pm

Spend a full day chasing sunsets, capturing clouds, and learning the theory behind voluminous forms, shading and blending, and color mixing for skies. In this workshop, learn everything you need to know to feel confident with oils and then continue your painting journey beyond the classroom. Great for beginners starting from scratch and wanting a solid foundation getting started, or those really wanting to expand their understanding of how to master light and form.

This class contains 4 sessions worth of lessons, but is laid out as a full day to really dive in, learn the background knowledge, and apply techniques while playing, experimenting, and covering a whole lot of canvas.

Lessons include:

  1. Sketching Forms- How to portray light wrapping around a form to create volume. Learn about space, perspective, value, and blending using charcoal.

  2. Color- How does light change the temperature of color, how do you know which colors to mix, and how do you create harmonious palettes.

  3. Studies- Fill a page with painting after painting to play with different blending and layering techniques and light effects. We will create in multiples to ease the pressure of a perfect painting, and really open ourselves to playing with paint.

  4. Final painting- Choose to follow along with an instructor led demo for a final large painting, or select a photo to apply your new skills with instructor guidance and feedback.

All supplies are included for use in class, and no prior experience necessary!

Lunch break from 12:30-1:30 - pack a lunch to enjoy in the studio, or grab food from the food trucks and visit the brewery!

Recommended age 14 and up. Minors to be accompanied by adults with their own tickets.

*Prepare a space in your car to take your paintings home- it will still be wet to the touch as oil paintings take a long time to dry. You can lay it flat in the trunk with our newsprint, or bring a brown paper grocery bag to store it in during transport
