Create a lush, expressive floral painting inspired by the loose beauty of a garden in bloom. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to simplify flowers and foliage, build depth through layers of color, and use confident, painterly brushwork to keep your painting feeling fresh and alive.
Experiment with oil paint's transparent and sculpting properties in this exciting workshop. Push and pull values by both adding and subtracting paint from your canvas while bringing energy to your florals. Play with thinning your oils using techniques similar to watercolor to create loose, textural, and dynamic marks.
Students will be guided step-by-step through the oil painting process, including color mixing, brushwork, creating movement, and layering paint to achieve rich texture and depth. Along the way, you'll explore how simple shapes and repeated marks can create a dynamic, contemporary composition.
No previous oil painting experience is required. Learn foundational techniques while creating a sophisticated artwork that feels both modern and serene.
All supplies are included for use in class, and no prior experience necessary!
Recommended age 14 and up. Minors to be accompanied by adults with their own tickets.
*Prepare a space in your car to take your paintings home- it will still be wet to the touch as oil paintings take a long time to dry. You can lay it flat in the trunk with our newsprint, or bring a brown paper grocery bag to store it in during transport
