*This is the First class of the September oil painting serieson Tuesdays, but you may take a single class at a time if you can’t attend all of in the series. Each class will be a fresh start at a new technique
Discover the foundations of oil painting in this workshop designed for beginners or those looking for deeper quality instruction. Through step-by-step demo, you’ll learn essential techniques including color mixing, brushwork, layering, and how to observe and paint light.
Each week of this course we will look at a different artist to learn from their style and approach.
In this session, paint a lily pond inspired by artist Jeanne Rosier Smith’s work while learning about perspective, texture, and how to create reflective water with bouncing light.
Follow along with instructor Morgan Jones’ demo, or choose a new image to apply demonstrated techniques to complete a new composition of your own with individual guidance.
All supplies are included for use in class, and no prior experience necessary!
Recommended age 14 and up. Minors to be accompanied by adults with their own tickets.
*Prepare a space in your car to take your paintings home- it will still be wet to the touch as oil paintings take a long time to dry. You can lay it flat in the trunk with our newsprint, or bring a brown paper grocery bag to store it in during transport
